Whereas the other two main river beaches near the moinho are both down on the banks of the Tejo river, Carvoeiro is perched right up in the mountains, offering a touch extra freshness on those really hot days! The praia is very nicely set up, with bridges and fountains, a nice little bar and a barbecue area. The drive is just 20 minutes, though it can feel like you're heading up into the middle of nowhere at times - keep going, it's worth the trip!
